Introduction

The Forest City of Lorean was a large city before and during The War in the Dreaming. It was a staging area for The Treaty throughout the war until its complete destruction by The Nothing. It was considered to be a "new home" (replacing "Arcadia") by many Fae. A huge number of recently awakened Fae (contextually; children), as well as a large number of older Fae died when the city fell; subsequently, it is remembered as one of the most terrible moments of The War in the Dreaming. The Raven, The Fox, Lord Echo, The Horse, Ziidi, Starlight, Paper Tiger and The Time Dogs were all present at the Battle of Lorean and all were forced to retreat due to the overwhelming onslaught of Shadow Dragons commanded by The Nothing. It is a bitter memory for all who will speak of it - perhaps the single worst loss to The Nothing ever experienced in a single event. It is important to note that the last of the Fae to retreat in this instance was Lord Echo and his retainer Paper Tiger as a result this event is sometimes referred to as 'Echo's Last Stand'.

Description

The City was a large mostly wooden place appearing somewhat technologically unsophisticated and was located quite deep into The Far Umbra (as a result few Sensatives could consistently reach it). The road into the city took visitors up a large hill adorned with stone steps. One of its key features was a huge park where locals and visitors gathered. The entire city was surrounded by forest, even up the hill leading into it, and indeed most of the actual city could have been considered forest also. It was considered a happy safe place... until the war.
