Description
The name "Blackmetal" is derived from the traditional colour of Fae weapons when they are crafted from materials which avoid iron. Although this isn't such a factor anymore, the name has remained. Fae military come in many forms and usually morph by accident, design or a combination of both into "Realm appropriate" manifestations (for example in The Far Umbra they may appear as knights on horseback, and the same personification and individuals may appear as PMC Operatives on Earth Realm). This isn't always the case, and elements of the surreal often creep into uniforms or presentations in particular in prolonged magical conflicts.
Formations
From largest to smallest Fae military formations usually follow the below form :
- Host - Combined forces under one commander.
- Army - A single complete fighting force.
- Legion - A large fighting force part of a larger force.
- Brigade - A medium-sized fighting force part of a larger force.
- Division - A specialised fighting force usually comprised of resources from several other formations on a temporary or permanent basis.
- Company - A small force usually part of a Brigade or Legion.
- Squadron - A very small force usually on a specific mission and or specialised which may or may not be part of a larger fighting force.
- Cell - A very small covert operations unit that may or may not be part of a larger fighting force.
